It's time for some tough love for your roses:
Remove all branches (especially twiggy growth) except for 5-10 of the main canes
Reduce remaining, main canes to approx. 15"
Remove dead canes
Remove crossing branches
Strip leaves from remaining canes
Make all cuts about 1/4" above a bud-eye that is facing out from the center of the bush
Some recommend sealing the fresh pruning cuts with Elmer’s glue to prevent entry by pests and pathogens
